About Koastal K9 Pet Care

I began my career with animals at the young age of 12. I worked alongside Melanie Bernhardt at Train Rite in Oceanside, California. There, I assisted in adapting and training dogs for the handicapped and disabled. In High School I interned at La Costa Animal Hospital.

In 2006, after graduating High School, I was accepted into Cal Polytechnic State University with a focus in Veterinary Medicine/ Animal Science. Throughout college I worked for my mentor Doctor Betty J. O’Connor at O’Connor Pet Hospital as well as Dr Kristi Schmidt, Veterinary Opthalmalogist of Arroyo Grande. In 2012 I graduated with a degree in Animal Science.

Since then, I have worked alongside Dr. John Agostini at San Clemente Veterinary Hospital. After being in a hospital setting as a veterinary technician for years I found it wasn’t for me. I began watching clients pets while I worked at each hospital and throughout college and realized that pet care is ultimately where my passion led. Pet Care is the right fit for me and my business has grown substantially due to word of mouth from all of my clients in and around North County San Diego.

I started Koastal K9 in 2014. I help families with all of their pet care needs, from dog walking to dog training. Amy joined my team in 2020, we were introduced by a mutual friend and instantly hit it off with different business models to expand the business. We currently work as a team and serve all of North County.

Having just under 20 years in the hospitality industry, the opportunity to start a career in pet care could not have fallen into my lap at a better time. I was introduced to Olivia shortly after 2020, several months after losing my beloved dog Riley. Needless to say, it has been the perfect line of work to help fill that void. There’s nothing more fulfilling than being able to provide love and comfort for the pets of others. And in doing that, I provide the necessary reassurance to pet owners that their fur babies are well taken care of.
